YES! This story was everything I wanted and MORE!!!
Length: 350 pages Published: 3 February 2012
KAYLEE CAN SEE DEATH COMING. NOW SHE MUST FACE HER OWN.
As a teen banshee, Kaylee’s blood-curdling screams are a death knell for others. Yet she never expected to see her own name at the top of a reaper’s list. Scheduled to die within days, Kaylee knows her magic can’t change her fate.
Worse, on top of worrying about her own demise, she needs to save mortal best friend Emma from the clutches of a deadly Netherworld creature. As Kaylee’s time on earth slips away, troubled banshee boyfriend Nash and his reaper brother Tod refuse to give up on Kaylee.
They’re ready to unearth murky family secrets to give her a last chance at life, as their fight to save Kaylee becomes a battle for her love.
I honestly don’t know where to start first, If I Die is the epitome of awesome!
So Kaylee is going to die in six days, and what does she spend those six days doing? Trying to save everyone else, I would expect nothing else from her.
Relationships change dramatically, both for the better and the worse. Of course the most exciting one being Tod and Kaylee, I’ve been waiting for their relationship since the very first book, My Soul to Take and it was so worth the wait. This is the first book where you really get a good look at what’s really behind those barriers that Tod places around himself, and he is beautiful. Though I’ve been routing for him from the beginning (before we even knew of a possible relationship between them) I never knew just how much Tod had to offer, but he can be everything for Kaylee and more. I’m really excited to hopefully see their relationship blossom.
I feel bad for Nash, but at the same time find him kind of annoying. I found myself wanting him to go away when he was with Kaylee and to be replaced by Tod, which I’m so happy to say I got my own way! I hope he can eventually find happiness with Sabine.
I didn’t find Mr Beck to be as strong of an adversary as Avari (who I’m hoping will be back in Before I Wake) but yet I still enjoyed his character, even if I felt thoroughly creeped out by the whole Incubus thing.
Throughout the story I found myself in tears, I was so emotionally involved that my heart hurt at times.
Every book in the Soul Screamers series really does just get better and better. I have absolutely fallen in love with this series, Rachel Vincent is truly blessed with the most amazing mind and talent.
Rachel Vincent is a former English teacher and an eager champion of the Oxford comma. She shares her home in Oklahoma with two cats, two teenagers, and her husband, who’s been her # 1 fan from the start. Rachel is older than she looks and younger than she feels, and she remains convinced that writing about the things that scare her is the cheapest form of therapy—but social media is a close second.
