The amused giggle that interrupted Scarlett’s singing made Brody’s chest expand, and he felt a grin come to his lips.
Then she turned, faced him and slid her hands up her body.
The throaty seductive purr to her voice telling him to feel her grabbed him right by the balls and refused to let go. He couldn’t tear his gaze away from her hands gliding over her breasts. His grip on the mic loosened. He juggled with it before it could it the floor, missing the next few lines. Once he had it back into a firm grip, he glanced back up at Scarlett and pure pleasure shined back at him.
He pressed his lips together. She’d done that on purpose. Oh, two could play at this game.
Brody behaved until they got to the last few lines, then he turned toward her, placed his hands low on her hips and started the Travolta shimmy. He move toward her as his head lowered toward her chest. She froze for a second, her throat working on a swallow before she collected herself and wrapped her arms around his shoulders and shimmied with him. He allowed his hands to rub up and down her hips, enjoying the feel of the silky material of her dress under his hands.
He was playing with fire, and for first time, he didn’t give a shit that he did.
Scarlett unzipped the side zipper on her dress then pushed the shoulder straps over her shoulders. The dress slipped off her frame and pooled at her feet. She then looked at Brody. He stood motionless, his heated gaze locked on her body.
Instantly, her nipples puckered as desire warmed her blood. Knowing what happened last time things got heated between them, and not wanting this night to end yet, she kicked off her high-heel slides jogged to the pool and jumped in, welcoming the cool rush of water that enveloped her.
As she broke the surface, Brody jumped in, causing a huge splash. The water hit her in the face and she saw the perfect opportunity to make everything playful again. So far tonight, there hadn’t been any tension between them, she wanted to keep it that way. She waited until he popped back up. As soon as he did, she used both hands to splash him.
He sputtered then stared at her. “I can’t believe you just did that.”
Then he retaliated by sending a huge wave her way. Laughing, they both tried to douse as much water at the other. Brody with his large arms and hands won each time. Coming up behind him, she heaved herself out of the water by his broad shoulders and pushed down. He went under easily…too easily.
As he surfaced, he grabbed her around the waist and hauled her to his chest. “That wasn’t nice.”
Sweeping her up into his arms, he dipped her backwards so her head was submerged then he righted her. As soon as she took a breath, he dunked her again.
Desperate to catch her breath, she folded her other arm around him and kicked loose of his hold. As soon as his arms fell away, she repositioned and wrapped her legs around his waist.
“Uncle,” she muttered.
No response came from him. He wasn’t moving either. If anything, he was rigid. She glanced up from the water to his face. Naked heat greeted her. His obvious arousal jutted up getting acquainted with her butt cheeks. Clinging to him had been a bad move. There was nothing innocent about their position. Brody was between her thighs. Desire flared through her causing her to throb.
They stared at each other. Air thick. She waited. Would he bolt again? Or would he finally do it?
Eyes locked, Brody walked backwards a matter of five steps until her back hit the wall of the pool. His mouth crashed down on hers. Gasping, she tightened her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. His tongue sailed past her lips. Sensations exploded inside her. Never before had such feelings ricocheted inside her from a kiss.
Fingers tangled in her hair then he tugged her head back. The light pain of having her hair pulled sent another jolt of lust slamming through her. His lips skimmed her jaw, down her neck, and over her collar bone. Her breathing escalated, coming in sharp, quick puffs. Every cell of her body was alive, and she wanted to go with it.
He released her hair and moved his hand to her waist, his thumb caressing the skin under the curvature of her breast. She needed him to touch her. Wanted it so bad.
Silently asking for what she wanted, she arched her upper body toward him. He slid his palm up, covering the aching flesh in his large hand. It wasn’t enough. She wanted him to devour her. Help her release this tension that was growing wilder with each passing second.
A whimper escaped her lips. He pinched her nipple. In response, she ground against the hard ridge proudly standing between her legs. She’d silently asked once and had gotten what she wanted. Maybe silently asking again…
Squaring her shoulders, Scarlett opened the door. Air whooshed out of her lungs at the sexy as hell man standing on her doorstep in a pair of faded blue jeans that rode low on Brody’s hips and a dark gray t-shirt that strained against his muscular heavyweight build.
Nothing about what he wore said they were heading to anything special.
She’d already made a mistake with this adult relationship thing. She’d treated tonight like a date. She shouldn’t have. She should’ve dressed in her regular clothes and not spent hour agonizing on what to wear.
A wolf whistle caught her off guard, and she jerked her gaze up from his massive chest to his eyes. Blatant hunger stared back at her from their caramel depths. Desire sliced through her, making her nipples bead.
Maybe she hadn’t picked the wrong outfit after all.
“Fucking hot,” he murmured.
And she stood a little taller, thrusting her breasts out. It was amazing how Brody made her feel like the sexiest woman in the world. Not cute. Not adorable. Not even pretty.
But hot. Sensual. Sexy.
“That makes two of us,” she said. “Damn, I’m a lucky girl.”
A grin stretched his lips. “You ready?” He held up his hand.
It took her a moment to register the helmet. Then her gaze shot past his shoulder to the road, her throat tightened. Parked at the curb was Brody’s Harley.
She didn’t ride. He knew that. Had respected that in the years she’d known him. Why would he bring that damned thing tonight?
“Where’s your Mercedes?” she asked, unable to tear her eyes off the death machine.
“At home in the garage.”
She finally dragged her gaze to him, only to come face-to-face with his challenging expression. Oh, he could totally go screw himself. “I’m not getting on that thing.”
“Yes, you will,” he said without being the slightest deterred by her refusal.
“Oh really?” She crossed her arms, irked by his assurance. “And how exactly do you plan to make me?”
He mimicked her posture. “I’m not going to make you. You’re going to do it yourself.”
“Because you want to try new things.”
“True. But riding a motorcycle is not on my bucket list. Sorry.”
He stepped forward, crowding her into the door. Her heart picked up pace as the scent of his cologne swam around her nose. “Think about it, Scarlett. The vibration between your legs. Your arms wrapped around my waist. The wind whipping past you. No compartment holding you in. You’re one with the outdoors. It’s a freedom you need to experience at least once.”
The image he painted formed in her mind. All she could focus on was his large body cradled between her legs as they flew down the highway, her hair whipping behind her. Her palms pressed to his chest. Why was the idea enticing?
Because it was Brody. Anything with him enticed her.
Brody could still taste her.
It was an intoxicating flavor, one he couldn’t wait to bury his face in and get more of. He revved the engine, speeding up the bike. He’d kept the plans for the night deliberately light. Take her outside her comfort zone by getting her on his bike, go for a joy ride, then end up at his condo.
The moment behind the trees had been unexpected and had only encouraged him to cut their joy ride short and head back to his place—pronto.
Not that Scarlett would mind. Not with her, “Fuck me, Brody,” comment.
He’d done that. Had gotten her so aroused, so in the moment, she’d finally just asked for what she wanted.
By night’s end, his plan was to fuck out all the negative thoughts his ex-best friend had put into her head. Ryan didn’t deserve any space in her head or her heart. She was the most goddamn beautiful woman he’d ever had the pleasure of watching come. The rock hard erection he’d gotten just from feeling her squirm behind him had been nothing compared to how hard it had pulsed against his zipper as she’d released. Twice.
He flew down the road. Ten minutes later, he guided the bike into his assigned garage next to his Mercedes. As they rode up the elevator, tension was creeping between them. Scarlett seemed nervous with the way she was picking at her thumbnail with her other one. Thoughts had hold of her again. Not good.
He’d seen he could get the walls to come down and he couldn’t wait to topple them again. The challenge of taking Scarlett from a nervous, unsure woman to so fucking turned on that she was completely in the moment with him was hot as hell. He got hard as a rock watching the transformation.
He’d allow her the few moments of uncertainty, of overthinking, before he made his move.
